Cardboard, torn boxes, and plastic box liners
63.5" x 36" x 24" (the base), scattered paper variable on floor
2014

This sculpture began with several boxes full of torn cardboard bits given to me by a friend. Her father had dementia and tearing up empty pantry boxes - meant for the recycle bin - had become his daily 'job'. As a retired engineer, this man now found comfort and usefulness in this repetitive task. His hands have touched each and every piece, filling multiple boxes with the remnants. The artwork is fully constructed of up-cycled found packaging materials.
